Despite her 'Adele 25' album missing the deadline of the nominations for the 58th Grammy Awards, "Hello" singer Adele is going to lead the line up of performances for the Grammys 2016. This is Adele's first performance at the Grammy's since she'd had to bow out in 2012 for her throat operation.
Pitch Fork reports that 10-time Grammy winner Adele will also be joined by Grammy 2016 nominee The Weeknd, who was recently seen in an entertaining peek of the Spike Lee-directed "Michael Jackson's Journey from Motown to 'Off the Wall'" documentary trailer. Fellow nominees Kendrick Lamar and Little Big Town will also be performing.
News Day relays that the Recording Academy is quite excited over the big night. "This lineup of talented artists is just the beginning of what will, once again, prove to be music's biggest night," Recording Academy CEO Neil Portnow expressed. "We look forward to celebrating what's been a wonderful year in music, honoring the best of the best and featuring never-before-seen performances."
Lamar is in the lead with 11 nominations, which include a nomination for song of the year with Pharell Williams-produced "Alright" and for album of the year with "To Pimp a Butterfly." The Weeknd is also competing for album of the year with "Beauty Behind the Madness" and has a total of seven nominations to his name. Taylor Swift is in the same boat as The Weeknd bidding for album of the year with "1989" and holding seven nominations in total.
According to USA Today, Grammys 2016 will see original "Hello" singer Lionel Richie being paid a tribute. Meanwhile,"Teardrops from My Eyes" R&B Queen Ruth Brown, salsa queen Celia Cruz, and "September" artists Earth, Wind & Fire will be the recipients of the 58th Grammy Awards Lifetime Achievement Award. "Rockit" singer Herbie Hancock, Jefferson Airplane, Linda Ronstadt and Run-D.M.C will also be given the award.
Rapper LL Cool J will return for his fifth year as a Grammy Awards host. Billboard confirms that for the first time the show will air live across the country on Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
