"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted this morning to St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labor. The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge," the palace said in a statement.
Husband Prince William is reportedly by the side of the duchess and will be with her till the time she gives birth.
The first baby of the 31-year-old Duchess and William will be delivered by Marcus Setchell, former gynecologist of Queen Elizabeth. The baby will be third in line to the British throne after grandfather Prince Charles and father Prince William.
The birth of the royal baby will be formally announced after the queen, royal family and the Middletons are informed about it. According to tradition, the birth announcement will be posted outside the Buckingham Palace on a paper signed by the doctors.
Kate Middleton's pregnancy has taken the world by storm. Earlier, Kate revealed that her due date was around July 13. Following this, the media swarmed around St Mary's Hospital a month before to keep a check on the royal baby birth. But the due date passed and no news about Kate's labor was reported from the palace. Recently, the Duchess' mother, Carole Middleton, revealed to her friends that the baby would be a Leo and was not due until July 23.
There were speculations about the birth method that the Duchess will opt. Multiple reports confirmed that she was considering natural birth.
