'Backstabbing for Beginners' Release Date, Cast, Plot & Update: 'Divergent' Star Theo James To Switch With 'Hunger Games' star Josh Hutcherson

Theo James is not about to take a vacation just because he's wrapped up filming for the third installment to the "Divergent" series opposite "The Fault in Our Stars" actress Shailene Woodley. The "Divergent" star is now getting the ground ready to star in Danish "Monica Z" director Per Fly's "Backstabbing for Beginners." The "Divergent" actor will be replacing "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson and will be joining Sir Ben Kingsley in "Backstabbing for Beginners."

Deadline reports that "Backstabbing for Beginners" is taken from the pages of "Backstabbing For Beginners: My Crash Course In International Diplomacy," a memoir by international relations expert Michael Soussan. Fly co-writes the screenplay with Daniel Pyne, who also wrote the screenplays for "The Manchurian Candidate" and "The Sum of All Fears."

According to ComingSoon.Net, the film is a Danish-Canadian production will be helmed by Lars Knudsen and Jay Van Hoy of Parts & Labor, who produced "Beginners" and "The Witch," Daniel Bekerman of Scythia Films, who co-produced "The Witch" and Malene Blenkov with Nikolaj Vibe Michelsen of Creative Alliance.

The story revolves around young Michael (James) in a dream job with the UN's Oil for Food program. Diplomat Pasha (Kingsley) becomes the mentor whom Michael sees as a pillar of truth. Michael finds out soon enough that not everything is as it seems. Behind the well-oiled machinery of political intrigue is a world-turning truth.

The roster is quite full for Theo James, who will also be seen with Rooney Mara in "The Secret Scripture." This film is directed by Jim Sheridan, who directed Daniel Day-Lewis in such critically acclaimed films as "In The Name Of The Father" and "My Left Foot." Further down the line, James has "Divergent: Ascendant," which is the final instalment to the "Divergent" series. He will also be returning to star in "Underworld 5" opposite "Total Recall" actress Kate Beckinsale.

The release schedule is still being refined for "Backstabbing for Beginners."
