Becoming a grandfather is one of the most precious moments in everyone's life, and the Prince of Wales is not an exception to it.
As the royal baby finally arrived Monday evening, Prince Charles couldn't stop himself from sharing his happiness with the world. According to a statement released by the palace, the 64-year-old new grandfather is "overjoyed" with his first grandchild's arrival.
"Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy," the statement posted on the British Monarchy Facebook page, read.
"Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone's life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future."
As the royal baby didn't arrive on July 11 as expected, and took nearly two more weeks, Charles was extremely excited to meet his grandchild.
"I'm very grateful indeed for the kind wishes for my rather slowly-approaching grandfatherhood, "Charles told, while thanking his well-wishers, when he visited an abattoir near Pontefract, Mirror reported. "Some of you may realise that with grandfatherhood comes, in four months' time, old age pensionerhood."
According to media reports, Charles, who was always a good father, is definitely going to be a good grandpa to the future heir of the British throne. Mirror recalled how Charles had helped Princess Diana both during pregnancy and after the birth of their children, Prince William and Prince Harry. According to the report, he had attended antenatal classes with his pregnant wife and even used to change William's nappies.
Apart from that, his wife Duchess Camilla (William's step-mom), who has five grandchildren, has already mastered the art of taking care of children, and is definitely going to be of great support to her husband.
