Rumors: iPhone 5se Specs And Upgrades To Be Released In March

There have been rumors floating around that Apple's next phone would be a smaller and much cheaper version of the iPhone 6, dubbed the iPhone 6c. However, these rumors have seemingly been proven false by sources who claim to have used Apple's soon to be unveiled 4-inch smartphone.

Apple's new smartphone is codenamed "N69," but sources say that it will be known as the iPhone 5se upon its release. Although it is not a member of the iPhone 6 line, it would still have considerable upgrades compared to the iPhone 5, 5s, and 5c.

These improvements include, but are not limited to curved glass edges, support got larger panoramas and autofocus for video recording, a barometer for the health app. Support for Apple Pay, and Live Photos. The "same silver, space gray, gold, and rose gold color options as the 6s line" will also be available for the 5se, according to reports from 9 to 5 Mac.

Unfortunately, 3D Touch will not be available on the 5se. Its screen will be identical to that on the 2013 model. Apple is planning to release this phone in order to keep up with modern technology as well as to support future updates to their software. The 5s is likely to be discontinued and replace with the 5se.

The "se" in the phone's name is said to have two meanings. The first is that it stands for "special edition." On the other hand, there have also been reports stating that it stands for iPhone 5s-enhanced. Apple is hopeful that this release would be able to lure those who are still holding on to their older iPhone versions.

The phones are now in production. They are slated for a late March or early April release according to Mark Gurman. Its release would reportedly coincide with the announcement of the Apple Watch 2.
