Several fans are now excited to watch the sequel to one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, "Avatar." Most of its casts are set to reprise their roles in "Avatar 2," however it seems like the film will be delayed.
New reports claimed that that the producer of "Avatar 2" will be moving the showing date of "Avatar 2." The Wrap reported that the film outfit declined to comment or give a hint as to when is the new release date for the upcoming film.
The news claiming 20th Century Fox will not be releasing the "Avatar" sequel on Christmas 2017 came after it was announced that "Star Wars: Episode 8" is slated for release on the same month. Some reports even claimed that the move of Disney in delaying the upcoming episode of the "Star Wars" franchise aims to challenge "Avatar 2" in the box-office arena.
"It is unlikely for Walt Disney Pictures to have "Star Wars: Episode VIII" and "Avatar 2" pitted against each other," Movie News Guide said in a report. Both are sequels to highest-grossing films, which are "Avatar" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," respectively."
Meanwhile, Parent Herald previously reported that James Cameron is set to produce three "Avatar" sequels. As a matter of fact, he told Montreal Gazette that "Avatar 2" is soon to be unveiled Christmas Day of 2017 and that they will have to finish three sequels that will be released one year after another.
To recall, "Avatar," led by Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana, has been a global hit after its release on December 2009. In fact, it earned more than $2.7 billion at the box office and competed against "Sherlock Holmes," which only earned more than half a billion dollars.
As to when is the official release date of "Avatar 2," no one can confirm yet. Fans and critics alike should wait until 20th Century Fox issue an official announcement.
