Editor and photographer of French magazine, Closer, has officially been charged in France for publishing topless photos of the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
Laurence Pieau was formally charged for breaking the country's strict privacy laws. Us magazine reported that Pieau was taken under custody earlier this month and will face a trial with publishing director, Ernesto Mauri and two photographers. Previously, Mauri was also charged in April along with photographer, Valerie Suau.
The photos published in the magazine showed Middleton sunbathing topless, were criticized as a violation of French privacy laws. An unnamed photographer was also charged for allegedly taking the offending snapshots.
In September, the Duchess's lawyer, Aureliean Hamelle said that the photos were a "grotesque breach of privacy." Pieau said she did not regret publishing the photos, adding that the snaps were not shocking and that they showed a young woman sunbathing topless just like other women.
Kate and Prince William welcomed their first child, a son, Monday. They named their child, George Alexander Louis.
