Jordy Nelson, an American football wide receiver has been off the field the whole season due to a knee injury. However, he found a valuable way to spend this time as a substitute teacher handling third-grade Math class in his son's school.

Nelson, tells that one of the teachers in his son Royal's school went through a cancer treatment and the school was looking for someone to step in as a substitute teacher. "They needed someone to step in, and I said I would do it....I had incredible teachers growing up, and they gave me so much that I just wanted to give it back," revealed the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League player, according to Parenting.

Enjoying what he considers as a helping experience, Jordy Nelson compares teaching to his football. "You know, teaching can be a lot like football. There's a lot coming at you at once, and honestly, sometimes teaching is more difficult. That's the truth," said Nelson in a promotional video for Dove Men+Care. He admits that being with the children in school has given him more strength than what he can gain on regular conditioning on field. "What I didn't realize was the effect the kids would have on me," he said. "Honestly, it's made me a stronger person."

Aside from being a substitute teacher, Nelson also had another way of paying back to the community during this season of injury. He found time to help in his brother's farm in Kansas where he grew up. according to Yahoo News.

Jordy Nelson also appreciates how this off-field season turned out to be more time spent with his family. He even got the chance to be alone with Royal who just had his baby brother Brooks last year. He ended the video saying, "Caring for others has made such a great impact on my life, and I think ultimately that's what real strength is all about."
