Does this mean they are leaving the show?

Good news for "Castle" fans! ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee recently revealed that the ABC police procedural drama may still live for another season after the current one, TVGuide.com reported.
The bad news, however, is that Lee revealed during the interview that the network had "ideas" as to how they can continue the show even without its lead stars, Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion.
Many fans became increasingly disappointed over this news. What is "Castle" without Richard Castle and Detective Kate Beckett anyway?
As most fans can remember, the drop in the ratings in "Castle" Season 8 was blamed on the fact that Castle and Beckett (aka Caskett) broke up during the first half of the season. It isn't the first time for Katic to be rumored to be leaving the show, as the 37-year-old actress did not immediately renew her contract even after the series was officially renewed for another season.
Meanwhile, Carter Matt noted that the Season 8B premiere episode titled, "Tone Death" will see Castle and Beckett enter the world of singing competitions to solve a case.
"When a body is found in the theater of Martha's latest show, Castle and Beckett's investigation leads them into the unexpectedly dangerous world of competitive a capella," the synopsis reads.
If the show will continue with a ninth season on TV without these two characters, will the series reinvent itself in another way or is it better to just end with eight seasons on TV? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
