Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder Split: Actress Regrets Relationship With Ex?; ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Reunion No Longer Possible?

Nina Dobrev allegedly regrets starring on "The Vampire Diaries" and falling in love with her former boyfriend Ian Somerhalder. The 27-year-old actress' cryptic photo on Twitter seemingly hints on her feelings following the breakup.

Many fans continue to hope for a reunion between Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder after the former decided to leave "TVD" after Season 6, Inquisitr noted. According to the publication, fans of the show tweeted their hopes to see the pair back on The CW series.

"Damon and Elena are the happiest and most at peace when they're just allowed to be together," a fan named @delenasdictator wrote on Twitter.

The tweet "We Miss Damon and Elena" became a trending topic on the social media site, which led to hopes that the network will somehow hear their plea. However, a recent report from Celeb Dirty Laundry seemingly shuts down the possibility that Somerhalder and Dobrev will get back together in front of the cameras.

According to the outlet, Dobrev recently posted a photo on Twitter, which seemingly references back to her relationship with Somerhalder.

"It's okay to be a glow stick. Sometimes we need to break before we shine," the photo's caption reads.

An insider also told the outlet that Dobrev is already regretting her appearance on "The Vampire Diaries." If it weren't for the show, she wouldn't have met and fallen in love with Somerhalder.

"Nina has tried to stay strong watching Ian and Nikki flaunt their relationship in her face, then witness them rush to the altar," the source said.

Given these feelings, Dobrev is allegedly no longer interested in reprising her role in the series as Elena Gilbert.

"If the producers asked her to come back to the show, Nina would laugh at them," the insider added.
