The serial drama/political thriller TV series "24" that started in 2001 and ended in 2010 after 9 seasons on Fox is back, and this time with a new Jack Bauer.
In a report published by E! Online, the new actor who will replace Kiefer Sutherland's critically acclaimed role as Jack Bauer on "24" is Corey Hawkins from "Straight Outta Compton." But this time, the network and its producers decided to change the name of the lead character to Eric Carter.
For those wondering if Sutherland would appear on this reboot, Deadline confirmed that he won't be reprising his role nor is he a part of the creative process of the show. This franchise will also have a new title called, "24: Legacy."
The head writers for this franchise are Manny Coto and Evan Katz who also wrote the original series. Stephen Hopkins, who also directed the first "24" pilot, will also take a lead on this reboot's pilot episode.
The story won't be the same as the original "24" because this one won't just focus on Carter as the lead character. This time, the writers included a female lead that happens to be working for a long time at the agency, not to mention the ex-leader of the CTU.
Deadline also reported that there are possibilities that past characters of "24" would get a mention on this new edition and most of them are ex-CTU members. However, they are more likely to be just flashed on pictures since the network has no plans of involving them on the reboot.
Now, about the plot of this new series, "24: Legacy" will be about Eric Carter, a military hero and his stories about coming home to the U.S. Along with a huge problem that followed him, leaving him no choice but to ask help from the CTU to rescue his life while he works on stopping possible terror attacks in the country.
The network has not yet announced the release date for its pilot.
