‘The Winds of Winter’ Release Date & Update: George RR Martin To Release The Book In 2017? Author To Release Seventh Book On 75th Birthday

Several fans were left disappointed when George RR Martin announced early this year that he was not able to finish "The Winds of Winter" on time. While the speculations claiming that the much-anticipated book is set to be released within the year, new reports now suggest that the six book of the popular novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire" will arrive in 2017.

With George not writing the forthcoming tome in any way faster, The Washington Post forecasted that "The Winds of Winter" is coming in 2017. On the other hand, the seventh book of the popular series entitled "A Dream of Spring" is predicted to hit shelves during the New Mexican author's 75th birthday in year 2023.

Fans, editors and publishers alike expressed their frustrations after learning the "The Winds of Winter" is still not done. "THE WINDS OF WINTER is not finished," George wrote in his Live Journal. He also added that he has been longing to say "I have completed and delivered THE WINDS OF WINTER" before 2015 ends but to no avail.

"Believe me, it gave me no pleasure to type those words. You're disappointed, and you're not alone," George said at that time. "My editors and publishers are disappointed, HBO is disappointed, my agents and foreign publishers and translators are disappointed... but no one could possibly be more disappointed than me."

Parent Herald previously reported the reasons as to why fans are very furious when they learned about the latest delay. One reason is they are worried that the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 will spoil them with some details on the plot of "The Winds of Winter." However, despite the possibility that some storylines will be featured in the TV series, fans need not worry since "GoT" producers assured that the show and the book will differ at this point in time.
