Fox network's "X-Files" is gaining huge success for rebooting it after maintaining great ratings for its second episode with 9.7 million viewers on Jan. 25.
A lot of people were skeptical of reboots particularly this series -- saying it might not be a good idea, but it turns out that it is up for a great start. The show even made it as the highest broadcast program that night according to Entertainment Weekly.
There might not be much competition compared to when it aired its pilot on Sunday because of the NFC championship game, but it was still lined up with some of the TV's heavy hitters. The second episode outnumbered the viewers of "Supergirl" with 1.8 rating from CBS and even "The Bachelor" with 2.3 from ABC, since it earned 3.2 rating with mostly people from ages 18 to 49. Getting the primetime hours and having those numbers just indicate that the show is looking more promising and that producers didn't make a mistake of remaking it.
In fact, the creator of the show, Chris Carter, is confident enough to say that the network would be willing to air more episodes -- should this mini-series becomes a huge success when it comes to ratings. And since this 23-year-old show is making a successful comeback, there is no surprise if viewers would see a lot of revivals on TV in the coming days.
Forbes is also convinced that "The X-Files" is here to stay after the airing of the first two episodes -- crushing some established shows like "Scorpion," "NCIS: LA," and "Gotham," as they share the same time slot.
The reboot is starting to get a lot of followers, both the new ones as well as the fans of the show when it originally aired back in the 90s. It is looking like it will continue to grow as the network continues with the next order of episodes.
