To Do List Before Bedtime: 6 Healthy Bedtime Rituals

After a tiring day, your body is seeking the comfort of the bed but before you jump in, try to finish first all these health-friendly rituals. Surely, you will get a better and a healthier sleep.

1. Take A Warm Shower

Life Hacker suggests having a warm shower before jumping to bed. Coming out from a warm shower into a cooler bedroom drops your body temperature that will signal your body that it's time to rest -- therefore slowing down essential metabolic functions such as your heart rate, breathing, and digestion.

2. Have A Glass Of Water

The body is mostly composed of water, you need to keep it hydrated for it to work properly. Drinking a glass of water before bedtime helps your body reload the fluids it loses all throughout the day. According to Fit Day, having a glass of water will balance your energy levels, hormones, muscles and joints. It will also help you relax thus can leave you the feeling of rejuvenation upon waking up.

3. Brush Your Teeth

The American Dental Association advised that you should brush your teeth at least twice a day. Plaque and bacteria will develop pretty fast, hence, making your breath smells bad and putting your oral health in danger.

4. Keep A Journal

Too stressed to get to sleep? Or do you have a lot in mind upon crawling in bed? Express it out by writing them in a journal. As posted on Huff Post, recent research shows that writing the things, which are stressing you out, and physically tossing them away can help clear your head.

5. Ditch The Screens

What seems like a harmless habit during bedtime can wreak your rest. Studies show the blue light emitted from your smartphones, televisions and laptops can upset your sleep cycles. A few minutes of scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram and a few stalks and tweets on your twitter may actually be harmful. And instead of using your gadgets to wake you up, try using the traditional alarm clock.

6. Jump In Your Bed A Little Early

If you really want to have a good night sleep, don't sacrifice it. The National Sleep Foundation recommends having, at least, seven to nine hours of sleep every night.

Remember, you cannot bring back time. So, don't miss a thing in your daily bedtime rituals. No doubt, you will have a better quality of sleep and it will not even take so much of your time.
