Marilyn Monroe's Secret Relationship with John F Kennedy Bothered Jackie Kennedy 'The Most' Out of All His Mistresses: Book

Marilyn Monroe had a secret relationship with John F Kennedy, and Jacqueline Kennedy was aware of their rendezvous, according to a new book on the Kennedy's.

Jackie Kennedy was not in the dark when it came to the many mistresses that John F Kennedy had, but in Christopher Andersen's new book, "These Few Precious Days: The Final Year of Jack with Jackie," the relationship with Marilyn Monroe "bothered her the most."

Jackie was able to dismiss the other mistresses because she was worried that the actress "was a loose cannon who could go public at any time, causing a scandal that would obliterate her husband's reputation, destroy her marriage and hold her up to public ridicule."

Presidential historian Doug Wead thinks Andersen's sensational revelations could well be true. He said, "It's the sort of thing that's unbelievable but really happens in history. Some of these things we're uncovering right now will move from speculation to fact as time progresses."

Monroe reportedly believed wholeheartedly that she would one day be Kennedy's second wife and told friends: "Can't you just see me as first lady?"

The book reports one unconfirmed episode where Monroe called the White House and spoke to Mrs Kennedy, telling her of the affair with her husband.

Meanwhile, Andersen notes that when Jackie first entered the White House, she feared she'd never see her husband.

Instead, sharing both home and office meant that she saw Kennedy many times a day, eventually deciding the White House years were "the happiest time of my life."
