Hollywood stars Jennifer Lopez and Viola Davis are about to debut a movie via the Lifetime channel on Saturday, January 30. It is called "Lila & Eve," which is a crime/revenge film directed by Charles Stone (Friday Night Lights, Drumline) and penned by newcomer Pat Gillfilan.
Davis plays the role of Lila, a vindictive mother, whose son died after being shot by drug dealers during a drive-by shooting. Lopez, hence, plays the role of Eve Rafael, also a mother, is seeking vengeance against the same people Lila is after.
In an article published by The Inquisitr, they noted that this movie also has a cast of talented actors including Shea Whigham (The Wolf of Wall Street), Andre Royo (Empire), Chris Chalk, (12 Years A Slave), Aml Ameen (The Maze Runner), Yolonda Ross (Law and Order) and Ian Casselberry (Insurgent).
This is not the first time that this movie was released. In fact, it was out in theaters back on Jan. 30, 2015 for the Sundance Film Festival. Likewise, it became available nationwide in the U.S. on July 17 of the same year earning $38,263 in the box office.
This film has also gained a lot of great reviews from film critics like Michael Rechtshaffen of the LA Times saying, "This, 'Lila and Eve' is a standard-issue female vigilante thriller that's skillfully elevated by the performances of leads Viola Davis and Jennifer Lopez."
Another critic from The Daily Herald also commended the acting styles of Davis, stating that the empathy she created with her character has elevated the movie.
Davis is known for her critically acclaimed role of Annalise Keating, a defense professor on the hit ABC series, "How To Get Away With Murder." Her teaming up with Lopez, who now has a net worth of $300 million from her success in acting, is promising enough to earn great ratings once this movie debuts on television.
"Lila and Eve" will be available on February 6 via Netflix.
