'Star Wars: Episode 8' Release Date & Trailer: Rey, Darth Vader Very Closely Linked, Clues Say Rey Is Anakin Reincarnated

Viewers of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" are sure of one thing: there is more to Rey than meets the eye. What that "more" may be has been the subject of many "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" theories that lead into the routes that "Star Wars: Episode 8" may take. Nuances in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," popularized the fan theory that "Star Wars: Episode 8" will reveal Rey and Kylo Ren as brother and sister - twins, in fact.

Still, an answer that is already that obvious in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is far from satisfying. On the question of Rey's identity and how "Star Wars: Episode 8" will unfold, ET's report on "Star Wars: Episode 9" director Colin Trevorrow's statement holds essential clues.

"We're going to make sure that that answer is deeply and profoundly satisfying," Trevorrow said. "Rey is a character that is important in this universe, not just in the context of The Force Awakens, but in the entire galaxy."

"She deserves it," Trevorrow added. "We'll make sure that that answer is something that feels like it was something that happened a long time ago, far away, and we're just telling you what happened."

Rummaging through more clues from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," a theory that is gaining ground now is that "Star Wars: Episode 8" may reveal that Rey is the reincarnation of Darth Vader. Well, Anakin Skywalker more than Darth Vader.

Screen Rant follows Trevorrow's cue that Rey's identity will be linked to extremely significant past events and points out that Rey had the more intense connection to Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber upon initial contact. "In Star Wars: Episode 4 A New Hope," nothing strange happened when the child Luke first touched Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber. In "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," Rey saw a rush of frightening visions that forced her to run away from Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber.

Without any real training to use the Force, Rey effortlessly pulled Kylo Ren's real thoughts from his mind and even used Jedi mind trick on Kylo Ren and the stormtroopers. In battle, Rey beat Kylo Ren when calling out to Luke Skywalker's lightsaber and overpowered him in combat. In a way, she seemed to be accessing memories. Whether those memories are hers, someone else's or hers as someone else from another life would be an interesting unfolding in "Star Wars: Episode 8."

Latinos Health also points out that Rey and Anakin both lived on similar planets and they share similar non-Force skills.

Screen Rant points back to the fact that the "Star Wars" stories are trilogies of cycles. Each "Star Wars" trilogy points to the prophecy about the Chosen One and the Chose One's connection to the Skywalker line. Anakin Skywalker was believed as the Chosen One owing to his fatherless, magic Force birth by Shmi Skywalker.

If Ren is indeed Anakin Skywalker's reincarnation and Anakin Skywalker was the Force's failed attempt to balance itself, then Ren as the reincarnated Anakin is the Force's second chance. Ren will find herself on a tight rope walk, deciding between Luke Skywalker and the side of light and Kylo Ren with the Knights of Ren and the side of dark.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," which will be released in December this year may have a few more clues before "Star Wars: Episode 8" makes the screens in 2017.
