Sneaker heads are now excited as Nike releases their Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit also known as the lightest AF1 shoes Nike has ever made. The streetwear-inspired sneaker is made with Nike's signature woven material called "Flyknit"
According to High Snobiety, Jonathan Johnson Griffin, Nike Footwear Design Director once shared how the planning and the whole process started. He said that it all started when they wore an Air Force 1 shoe all throughout their Fashion Week trip in Paris.
Griffin said that it gets tiring when you wear an Air Force 1 shoe for an entire day. He wanted to change the game of the stylish shoe and make it wearable for 24 hours.
"Overall, we wanted to develop something that you could wear 24/7; a shoe you can wear at the boardroom, school, club and it transitions with you - aesthetically or functionally," Griffin said.
Griffin also shared that he wanted to fix the problem that every sneaker head encounters - the shoe creases. He said that they took time in concave tooling making the shoe more flexible; it prevents the shoe from creasing.
"We also did a lot of work on the tooling because we wanted to maintain the authenticity of the concentric circles on the sole. You have this primary, concave tooling and a thinner cut so it helps the shoe flex." Griffin said.
He also said that they injected the Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit with phylon tooling. He said that this material has a similar material to the Roshe ones - it makes you think you're stepping on that foam literally.
The Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit has three colorways for its debut. For the Nike Sportswear, it has the University Red, Pure Platinum, and the favorite multicolor. All shoes are ready to order on Nike.com/Techbook. The official sale release is on January 28 on Nike.com and retailers worldwide.
