Usher Wins Children’s Custody, Hugs out Differences with Ex-Wife Tameka

Usher's ex-wife was left in tears as a Georgia judge ruled that the pool accident of their son was not an emergency situation that should deprive the singer of custody of his two children.

Tameka, former wife of the 34-year-old singer, filed an emergency request seeking the children's custody after their five-year-old son experienced a near-to-death pool accident Monday. She argued that Usher was an inattentive father and employed incompetent caretakers (hinting at Usher's sister Rena Oden) for the children.

But the arguments did not convince the judge enough to take away the custody of the children from Usher. "What happened here was an awful accident and... I'm not certain that had any single person been at the poolside that one person could have done any better than Ms Oden. And Ms Oden did impress me as a capable caregiver," Fulton County Superior Court Judge John Goger said, according to CNN. Usher's sister, Rena Oden, tried to save the boy, but failed. Later two workers at the house rescued the child. "Based on the evidence I heard, not one person could have done any better than Ms Oden," the judge added.

However, the judge ordered Usher to inform Tameka about the children's lives and how they are doing with him. After the hearing, Tameka could not hold back her tears and broke down. She said she was not sure whether her son suffered permanent brain or heart damage. Seeing Tameka in tears, Usher hugged his ex-wife in a bid to comfort her.

The singer's son, Usher Raymond V, is still in the hospital after the pool accident,. Monday. He dove down to get a toy out of the drain of the pool and his arm got stuck in the drain. His aunt Oden along with a maid tried to free his hand but failed. Two workers at the singer's house dove into the pool and freed the boy. He was rushed to hospital immediately after initial first aid.

Last year July, Usher's 11-year-old stepson Kile Glover died after being struck by a jet ski. During the treatment doctors said that his chances of survival were bleak and he would not recover from his injuries. They took Kile off life support on July 21.
