A Siamese cat adopted an abandoned Shih Tzu that was previously rejected by its mother due to a stillborn sibling, according to the Daily Mail.
Coco the cat welcomed the Shih Tzu puppy into its family by treating it as one of her own litter. According to the report, Coco is usually seen nursing and bathing the Shih Tzu puppy and treats him exactly like how she treats her own kittens.
Paula Ball, Coco's owner was the one who introduced the Shih Tzu puppy into the litter because she was worried that it might not survive without a mother.
The puppy which Ball named Hope was instantly welcomed by everyone in the family.
According to Ball, Coco looks for Hope and has been very attached to her. If the puppy is not around, Coco looks for her everywhere, Ball said in an interview.
Hope is only three weeks old when Paula Ball found her. Her mother, Diamond, rejected her due to difficulties in birthing and more complications. Diamond is owned by David Cohen, Paula Ball's partner. They are both from Liverpool.
Ball encouraged Cohen to help her introduce Coco and Hope to one another, and they immediately hit it off. Ball said that this decision was drawn out of the obvious fact that Hope would not survive without the feeling and idea of a mother.
Ball rubbed a bit of a cat and kitten scent on Hope before putting her straight with the other kittens in the litter.
Coco has since then been nursing Hope and their bond continues to grow stronger by the minute, Ball told the Daily Mail.
"We're going to sell the kittens but I'm going to keep Hope. She's part of the family now! I'm so proud of Coco and how she's taken on Hope. It's such a heartwarming story," said Ball.
