Helping children learn how to read is one of the most valuable things parents can do for their children. Therefore, it is very important for parents to learn the best classic books for children.

Parenting.com, with the help of the Children's Book Council Joint Committee and the Quicklists Consulting Committee for the Association for Library Service, has compiled a list of the best classic books that need to be found on every child's library.

First on the list is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", which follows the story of a newborn caterpillar's transformation into a butterfly as it eats different kinds of food. "The Very Hungry Caterpillar uses unique illustrations, different page styles, and simple, appealing writing," shared Children's Books Guide.

The next on the list is "My Very First Mother Goose". It features stylized illustrations of animal characters with nursery rhymes. It is popular for helping children learn and enjoy sing-song language.

"Close Your Eyes" is also a great book for kids. It follows a cute and heartwarming story of a tiger and her cub.

Another awesome book for children is "Is Your Mama a Llama?" Parenting.com shared some of the reasons for the books popularity among children. "Simple, rhyming stanzas and bright, silly illustrations carry readers through Lloyd the Llama's quizzing of his friends about their mamas."

The next book on the list is "Goodnight Moon". It tells the story of a rabbit saying goodnight to everything inside his room and the world outside before he goes to bed.

"Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" is another great book for kids. It features the story of an exhausted monkey and her five little monkeys. "Kids will enjoy the repetition and rhyming, and parents will totally relate to the exhausted mama monkey," the article shared.

And lastly, one of the best classic books for children is "Guess How Much I Love You". It is an enduring story about unconditional love between a daddy bunny and his little bunny.
