New Facebook Update: New Improvements To Place More Relevant Stories On Top Of Your News Feed

Most Facebook users have experienced seeing stories at the top of their News Feed that have many likes and shares but do not interest them at all. Fortunately, Facebook has announced that they are going to fix this issue by putting more focus on what is actually relevant to the individual user, regardless of the story's number of likes and shares.

The announcement was posted by Facebook on their FB Newsroom blog site, as reported by Time. The changes were brought about when they started to pay more than 1,000 Facebook users -- called the feed quality panel -- to rate the quality of their News Feed every day. The company found out that there are other factors aside from a story's number of likes and shares in determining what stories to place on a user's News Feed.

"We are making an update to News Feed that combines these two signals," Facebook shared about taking into consideration both the number of clicks and the real interests of the users. "News Feed will begin to look at both the probability that you would want to see the story at the top of your feed and the probability that you will like, comment on, click or share a story. We will rank stories higher in the feed which we think people might take action on, and which people might want to see near the top of their News Feed."

This new Facebook improvement for the users' News Feed is just one of the many issues the company needs to fix. The Wall Street Journal shared some of the concerns that Facebook needs to address such as the need to see friends' posts in a chronological order, issues with the privacy settings of the posts you like and comment on, as well as the problems with notifications and emails for things that do not matter.
