Choosing and deciding on your child's name can be hard but exciting. Parents feel a bit of pressure in choosing the right name because this will be a part of the child's identity when they grow.
A tip posted by WebMD from Laura Wattenberg, author of "The Baby Name Wizard," says, "Pretend you're naming yourself. If you're starting out in your life today, is this what you would want to represent you?"
Whatever name you decide to choose, make sure you don't regret it in the future. Here's a guide in choosing the right name for your child, assuming that you already know the gender.
Names found in Books
This includes the Bible and Novels. If a parent is fond of reading, they surely can get a wider selection of names for their future babies.
A personality, public figure or a character who inspires you
It's common that parents would name their child after their idols like for example, a husband who once dreamed to become a rockstar named his son "Dave" from Foo Fighters lead singer, Dave Grohl.
How the name sounds
Some parents would want a name that can be easily pronounced but also good to hear. Majority of the people's name does not rhyme with their last name. Well, there could be some like "Jolly Molly" or "Bruce Spruce" but some would prefer to articulate names that are not rhyming with the last names like "Jennifer Springstein" or "Luke Jackson." Here is a helpful site for couples who will choose this guide; Babycenter.
Unique names
These are names that some parents try to formulate which are rarely heard. There is no definite pattern or formula for this, but as long as they consider it a name then it's good to go.
Name combinations or Initials
This is also a common way in formulating a name for babies. Combining the initials of the name of the parents or simply combining the first name of the parents is not a bad idea. People can easily identify your kid just hearing their name. For example; "Allister" coming from Allen and Lester.
