H&M Recalls Faulty Water Bottles

H&M, one of the popular retailers in the United States announced a voluntary recall of their children's water bottles citing the risks associated with the product.

Nearly 2,900 units of water bottles, manufactured in Italy have been included in the recall notice issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Commission (CPSC) and the H&M Hennes & Mauritz based in New York, on Tuesday.

According to the authorities, the water bottle's pull-up spout can break off unexpectedly, posing a choking hazard for children.

"The defect can be difficult to see which is why we ask all customers who have been given or have purchased any of these water bottles to immediately stop using the product," a statement appeared in the H&M website said.

Although no injuries have been reported, the company decided to take back the product from the market after getting a complaint, in which the bottle spout broke off and fell into a child's mouth, while drinking water from the bottle.

It is pretty easy to identify the recalled product as "H&M Sweden" and www.hm.com are printed on the bottom of the bottle. The product has the identification number 74292 6 4212 50/82 is affected by the recall.

The water bottles, available either in pink or blue colors were sold in all H&M stores with children's departments across the country between July and August 2012. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission urged consumers to stop using the recalled water bottles and approach H&M for a full refund.
