'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 Cast, Release Date, News, Spoilers: Denzel Washington's Meredith Grey-Centered Premiere Very Dark, Amelia Feels Responsible

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 promises a midseason premiere that is as much of a heart-stopper as its Winter finale episode. "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12's midseason premiere is Denzel Washington's first time to direct for TV. Buzz say that Washington's episode will make "Grey's Anatomy" fans feel like the season break never even happened.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Camilla Ludington, who plays Jo Wilson, says there's no gentle grind to "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12's midseason premiere. "We are not easing you back into Grey's Anatomy," Luddington said. "It's really actually very emotional. In the table read, it was heavy. It was heavy filming it. We kind of have to support each other in those times."

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 12's back-from-break episode will not be without its lighthearted moments. ABC reports that before things turn dark in Denzel Washington's "The Sound of Silence," Justin Chambers' Alex Karev will be ragging on Kelly McCreary's Maggie Pierce for the nocturnal disturbance from her room, which kept him awake in Amelia's old room. The two are carpooling with Ellen Pompeo's Meredith Grey right around the time that huge accident takes place down the road from them.

An earlier report by Entertainment Weekly states that McCreary spoke about the brutal encounter that Meredith Grey will have with a patient. "Meredith gets attacked by someone you would least expect and it is just as terrifying, shocking and harrowing as it appears," McCreary said.

Caterina Scorsone, who plays Amelia Shepherd said that that the freshly evicted Amelia will feel responsible for Grey's fate. "Amelia takes that really hard," Scorsone stated. "Amelia always holds herself extremely responsible for the misfortunate of others. In this case especially, she feels somehow responsible, even though she's really not. She often takes it all very personally when someone she's close to is hurt. When we come back, Amelia is at a very, very low point."

Grey's Anatomy will be back on air on Feb. 11.
