Fans do not have too long to wait before "Sherlock Season 4" buzz and tidbits resume. "Sherlock," well-loved as it is, is a merry bowl of goings-on. While Benedict Cumberbatch causes a stir in a "Zoolander 2" cameo and "Sherlock" co-screenwriter Steven Moffat collects his OBE, "Sherlock Season 4" is well and truly on track.
First off, "Zoolander 2" got more publicity when they brought in "Sherlock" star Cumberbatch for a cameo as a supermodel named All forcing Jennifer Aniston's husband Justin Theroux to defend his direction. BT reports that distressed fans called for a boycott of the film because Cumberbatch's supermodel character was an object of ridiculous mockery. "Zoolander 2" director Theroux explained that "Sherlock's" Cumberbatch is not the object of the joke but "Zoolander 2" stars Ben Stiller (Derek Zoolander) and Owen Wilson (Hansel).
"Sherlock" creator and co-screenwriter Steven Moffat is, himself, making waves with his new OBE recognition from the British Monarchy largely for his success with "Sherlock," "Dr. Who" and various works. Prince Charles presented Moffat his OBE token during the ceremony.
Moffat, in turn, spoke of his joy over working with "Sherlock" and "Dr. Who." "I've got not one, but two dream jobs so to get this lovely thing for already indulging myself in public, seems like an excess of good fortune," Moffat said.
Moffat also spoke of how he and co-writer developed and continue to develop Sherlock as a story, giving fans a peek into what to expect from "Sherlock Season 4."
"Sherlock Holmes is one of those things, if you love it enough and work hard at it, it will always reward you. Most of what we do is get Arthur Conan Doyle right, we update it, but we get it right."
Moffat gave an advise in an earlier report by Digital Spy regarding "Sherlock Season 4" not to get drawn in by the trivial at the cost of missing important clues in the plot. "Sometimes people go mad for one thing we think is quite trivial and completely ignore something we think is standing right in front of you."
This may have to do with an earlier interview Moffat gave with Entertainment Weekly where Moffat spoke of a clue he and co-writer Mark Gratiss wrote into "Sherlock Season 3" that fans have completely missed. "There are answers coming to questions which nobody has asked," Moffat said. "There's one thing that no one has really brought up..."
Entertainment Weekly asked if Moffat can talk about this question. "No," Moffat responded. "We've actually set up something, I think-[co-creator Mark Gatiss] and me, we're very exultant about a little thing we've set up that no one is talking about."
Daily Record reports that Moffat confirms that Sherlock will have more seasons after "Sherlock Season 4" as long as Cumberbatch and Dr. Watson actor Martin Freeman are willing to keep doing the show.
In the meantime, Morning Ledger reports that work on "Sherlock Season 4" will begin this April. Whether or not "Sherlock Season 4" in 2017 is the emotional rollercoaster that the writers promised remains to be seen.
