A veteran paramedic from Detroit is being called a hero and a lifesaver, a source told 7 Action News.
Joseph Harman was giving CPR to a man having a heart attack when he too had a heart attack inside the EMS unit.
The WXYZ news reported that both men were then brought to the Detroit Medical Center where they were subjected to stents to help clear the blockage in their arteries.
Dr. Michael Brown said Hardman's condition was what they call "widow maker" artery and this condition only happens very rarely.
Hardman said he wasn't aware that his condition was serious until his chest pains became stronger and he began sweating.
"If I hadn't been in the position I was in, I would have been deceased." According to the report, Hardman will be allowed to come home in the next couple of days and will be undergoing months of therapy. After which, he will be allowed to return to work. Prior to the incident, Hardman had no prior heart health issues
Hardman's Union President, Joe Barney said he is a hero and a miracle because the timing of his heart attack allowed him to be sent to the hospital at the right time and he also got the best treatment.
