In honor of the Chinese New Year, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a video on his Facebook page with wife Priscilla Chan and two-month-old baby Max. This is the first time that a video of his daughter was made available in the social networking site.
Showcasing his Mandarin skills, the millennial father sent his good wishes for the Lunar New Year. He added that he and his wife is excited to celebrate the first Lunar New Year with Max. "This is also a meaningful holiday for Max because we have chosen her Chinese name," Zuckerberg said.
"Her name is Chen Mingyu. Chen after her mother's family name. And Mingyu represents our hope for a brighter tomorrow for the world," the CEO revealed. "From our little family to yours, we wish you health and prosperity in the New Monkey Year!" Chan added.
According to CNN, Chinese names are often created with symbolism. The Chinese name 'Mingyu' is a combination of the word 'ming' which means bright and 'yu' which means universe.
'Mingyu' reflects Zuckerberg and Chan's vision. The couple made headlines last year when they revealed during Max's birth announcement that they will be donating 99 percent of their Facebook shares over the lifetime to charitable causes like education, medicine and internet access. The video has now racked up over 27 million views, 1.2 million comments and thousands of shares.
In an article of Vanity Fair, Zuckerberg said that he hoped virtual-reality videos would level up so that he could document his daughter's first steps and share them with friends and family.
"I'm really looking forward to not just capturing a photo of her first steps, but trying to capture that moment and be able to share that with her family and all our other close friends, and have that ability to be there and feel it and see what it's like not just in a photo or video," Zuckerberg told Vanity Fair.
