"Days of Our Lives" is rumored to have contract issues after NBC asked the show's producers to change the model of taping episodes ahead of its airdates on TV. DOOL rumors claim that the writers were told to stop writing anything until Sony and NBC have reached a middle ground.
"They [NBC] want the show to go back to taping closer to air," an insider told Daytime Confidential. "The current production model doesn't really give NBC the chance to make notes, or for DAYS to fix story and casting issues that might impact ratings."
The publication noted that this production model of taping episodes as much as five months ahead of its airdates began several years ago. This might be the reason why changes in the series cannot be easily made even though fans react violently to a particular storyline.
This production model for "Days" however is said to be a more cost effective solution for the NBC soap opera rather than filming episodes closer to their airdates.
"Going to a more cost effective production model is what saved DAYS," another source shared.
While the future of "Days of Our Lives" rests on the network and producers' deal, DOOL spoilers from Celeb Dirty Laundry reveal that Greg Vaughan's time on the show as Eric is closely coming to an end.
According to the publication, Eric will learn about something important, which will leave him losing his hope and will. This may also bring him closer to Jennifer, as he seeks for comfort and support from her.
Vaughan's final scenes are expected to air around mid-April.
"Days of Our Lives" airs Mondays to Fridays on NBC.
