Nasim Pedrad is more popularly known for her stint in Fox's "Scream Queens" and as a "Saturday Night Live" alum. But, now, the 34-year-old Iranian-American actress is set to portray the titular role on "Chad: An American Boy."
As it turns out, Pedrad will also serve as an executive producer and co-writer on the show, which is about a "gawky 14-year-old boy" who has to be the patriarch at home (which means he can't really live his life as a kid) while dealing with the challenges of growing up.
On Thursday, Pedrad posted a photo of the script on her Instagram page, with a simple heart-eyed emoji as the caption, along with "#chad."
Entertainment Weekly reports that Rob Rosell will be "penning the single-camera, half-hour comedy with Pedrad, and Jason Winer will direct." Rosell, and Winer will also be executive producers on the show, along with Michael Rotenberg and Dave Becky.
"I'm thrilled to be able to portray a Middle Eastern family not working for or against Jack Bauer on network TV," Pedrad said in a statement. "Also, a big thank you to Fox for understanding that my true essence is that of an awkward and misguided 14-year-old boy."
According to E! Online, Pedrad is currently working on a recurrent role in "New Girl," as police officer Aly Nelson.
Prior to her stint on the Zooey Deschanel-starred show, Pedrad played the role of Gigi Caldwell on "Scream Queens," alongside Emma Roberts, Skyler Samuels, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Oliver Hudson, Billie Lourd, and Jamie Lee Curtis, to name a few.
