"Mr. Robot Season 1" hit the ground running and took more than a few awards with it. With the nod for Best TV Drama from the Golden Globes, Critics Choice and AFI Awards among others fans are, unsurprisingly, antsy to see what "Mr. Robot Season 2" will get going. Certainly Rami Malek's approval of new co-star Grace Gummer joining the cast is a good sign. Sam Esmail, however, revealed that fans may be going into "Mr. Robot Season 2" without discovering one or two important plot secrets from Season 1.
"Mr. Robot" shunned the mainstream style of TV and may have unwittingly changed viewership taste. According to Inverse, this is especially true with NBC Universal's move to take its programming into edgier game.
According to Deadline Hollywood, NBC Universal Chairman Bonnie Hammer expressed faith in substance over form. "We wanted to take a beat to see where the world is going," Hammer said. "We saw that linear would still be important but not the only game in town and that content would be the focal point in the future. No matter what happens, what platforms emerge, smart content wins."
It does sound like "Mr. Robot Season 2" will continue on this winning strip. Entertainment Weekly reports that "Mr Robot" creator and director Sam Esmail continues to make the story as close to reality as possible. Esmail had been consulting with economic experts as he researched into the consequences of Season 1's hack by fsociety in a real world setting.
WARNING: Big spoilers follow hereon out.
Fans and followers expressed concern that the revelation on the illusion of Christian Slater's character Mr. Robot may have come too soon and "Mr. Robot Season 2" might not have as big a twist to offer. "No, I actually think this is the fun part," Esmail assured. "When I first wrote this as a feature [film, the Mr. Robot revelation] happened at the first act break. What the movie was about, was what if a guy discovers this thing about himself, what's the next thing he does? That, to me, is the interesting part."
In a Q&A with Esmail, Slater and Rami Malek - who plays the lead Elliot Alderson - Esmail was asked about the existence of other smoke and mirrors in the show. "Is there anything else that we should be looking into Season 1 that wasn't real," the questioner asked Esmail.
Esmail gave an affirmative answer. Malek then asked if this is a known twist among the insiders of the show. "Do I know? [Does the cast] know," Malek asked Esmail.
"No," Esmail responded.
"Cool!" Slater exclaimed.
We don't share our burdens. We carry them alone.

In other news, Fashion & Style reports that "American Horror Story" actress Grace is a welcome addition to the show. ""Grace Gummer is such a really wonderful spirit" Malek stated. "She's just fun to be around and very professional."
Gummer's character as an FBI agent is expected to clash with Elliot as she investigates the fsociety hack in "Mr. Robot Season 2." The show will return on air in the US this summer.
