The new code 1LE defines amplified track capabilities and one of the most potent packages in the Camaro inventory. Chevrolet is expanding the reach of that destination for 2017, including Chevrolet Camaro 3.6-liter V6 with 335-horsepower. This is a 1LE first. The 1LE main model will continue to be based on the 6.2-liter V8 Camaro SS with a robust 455 horsepower.
According to Kelley Blue Book, the 1LE package on both V6 and V8 is limited to 6-speed manual transmissions that feature short-throw shifters. The latest 1LE kit includes suspension upgrades and tweaks that increase aerodynamic downforce.
For the V6-version 1LE Chevrolet Camaro key performance package elements include: the Camaro SS fuel system, low-profile Goodyear Eagle F1 tires 245/40 front and 275/30 rear, 20-inch forged aluminum alloy wheels, FE3 suspension components adapted from the Camaro SS, a mechanical limited-slip 3.27:1 rear differential, Brembo brakes with 4-piston front calipers, dual mode exhaust system, track cooling package, three-piece rear decklid spoiler and front end splitter.
The LT 1LE sports aero elements, a Satin Black finish on the hood, rear spoiler and front splitter, according to Auto Blog. Interior design enhancements include the availability of Recaro sport seats, a suede-wrapped D-shaped sport steering wheel and a video/data recording system.
For the Camaro SS, the new 1LE package has several new features, including revised springs, anti-roll bars, FE4 suspension and GM's auto-damping Magnetic Ride Control. Other components include ultra-low profile Goodyear Eagle F1 tires (285/30 front, 305/20 rear), 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, Brembo brakes with racy red 6-piston monobloc calipers, an electronic limited-slip 3.73:1 differential, 14.6-inch/2-piece rotors, dual mode exhaust and track cooling package.
The SS 1LE sports rear spoiler and Satin Black on the hood like the V6 version, but features a rear diffuser and Satin Graphite finish on its front splitter. Interior design enhancements include Recaros, suede wheel and the data recorder.
Until the packages become available this fall, Chevrolet will not release 1LE pricing.
