The wait is finally over.
Eric Christian Olsen and wife Sarah Wright welcomed their first child, a baby boy, Friday Aug. 16. The couple has named their son Wyatt Oliver.
The newborn weighed 9 pounds and 8 ounces at birth, Olsen confirmed the news to People magazine.
"I've been a part of some pretty incredible experiences in my life, but I've never been a part of something so surreal, so life affirming and so insanely beautiful as watching my son come into this world," the 36-year-old actor said while sharing his happiness with the magazine. "It was this watershed moment where I knew that everything I valued before seems finite and temporary."
Actress Wright, who wanted to have a "natural birth at home," was in labor for 17 long hours before giving birth to their bundle of joy at 7:45 p.m.
Later, Olsen confirmed his baby's arrival on Twitter. "Things just got real," he wrote, while sharing the People magazine report, with his well-wishers.
Olsen and Wright were together for four years before getting engaged in October 2011 and tying the knot in June 2012. The couple announced pregnancy in April, 2013. "Something magical is happening," Olsen, wrote while announcing the pregnancy on Twitter. "I'm pretty sure I'm at least half way responsible for such a thing."
No wonder, the "NCIS: Los Angeles" actor, who used to find enough time to support his pregnant wife even during his busy schedule, has already fallen in love with his adorable son.
"I can only take stock in how lucky I am to have this amazing, powerful, woman in my life, and a beautiful new son," the new dad added to the People.
Olsen is definitely going to be an ideal and dedicated dad. Wright had earlier revealed how Olsen was waiting impatiently to meet their son and used to shower him with tons of love before he was even born.
"Every day he kisses the baby bump one time for every week old the baby is," Wright told the People. "This morning he was running late, but I still got 22 kisses on the belly before he ran out the door."
