Believe It Or Not: Doctors Find Ant Colony Living Inside A 12-Year-Old Girl's Head [VIDEO]

It's the stuff of nightmares. A 12-year-old girl from Deesa town of Bankantha, India, has an ant colony living inside her head.

Times of India reports that at least 10 to 15 ants come out of the Shreya Darji's ear daily. Her father discovered the big ants inside the girl's ear, which prompted him to take his daughter to an ENT specialist.

The doctors who checked on her ear were shocked to see such an occurrence since there are no recorded cases of a severe ant infestation inside a person's ear in medical history. They were able to remove several big ants but the ants keep on coming out of the girl's ear every day. The doctors were also unable to find the queen ant who might have laid her eggs inside the girl's ear.

"The girl's case is very challenging for me, as I have never seen such a case, nor found it in medical history. The big ants must be biting her, but the girl did not even feel pain inside her ears. Besides, there was no damage inside her ear," Dr. Jawahar Talsania told Times of India.

The girl will be kept under observation if more big ants come out of her ear. Her father also revealed that he has taken his daughter to a couple of doctors already as well as some witch doctors but nobody has a clue as to what could have caused this strange phenomenon. "It is not even the case that some big ants entered her ears by chance. It could not happen every day," the father explained.

An entomology professor at the University of Florida might have an answer as to why some bugs decide to enter a person's ear. "The insects are probably entering the canal as harborage, for heat, and/or for moisture," Philip Koehler, Ph.D., told The Huffington Post.
