Everyone was stunned as they saw the comeback of Robert "Rocky" Balboa at the spinoff movie "Creed," which hit the U.S. box office with $103 million. And as the film made noise and loved by the many, chances are the original actor of the character is going to reprise his role.
"There's no doubt that we're making a 'Creed 2,'" MGM CEO Gary Barber told Variety. However, it's not yet known if Ryan Coogler will return to the director's seat, but it has been said that he and the 69-year-old actor already have new ideas for the sequel.
In fact, they have a new version for the story that would feature the happenings of the past, which means that Carl Weather would be back to play Apollo Creed - who was gone in the 1985 "Rocky IV." "Ryan has some ideas of going forward and backward and actually seeing Rocky and Apollo together," Stallone revealed.
"Think of 'The Godfather 2.' That's what he was thinking of, which was kind of ambitious," he added. The screenwriter unveiled that he saw the 68-year-old former professional football player and surprised that he was still in good shape.
"I can't believe I got in the ring with him, even if it was play fighting," he said. Meanwhile, Stallone opened up about his career and "Creed" on Deadline.
The producer talked about his co-actor Michael B. Jordan and he got nothing but praises for the 29-year-old star. He said: "[he has] extraordinary athletic ability...He was able to morph his athleticism into boxing, which is a very, very, very slow process. He put in the time. I can't tell you the pounding he took because he was in there with professionals as opposed to other actors. And he wouldn't give up."
"He got that swagger and moves that fighters get. It is a calm athleticism, but you know in a second, it can turn into a graceful ballet of violence," Stallone also added. Additionally, he is still looking forward to growing his 40-year film career by acting and directing.
