Valentine's Day was something special with the return of "The Walking Dead Season 6." True enough, "The Walking Dead" delivered every bit of what it promised and so much more. While viewers are still reeling from the speed of events in "The Walking Dead Season 6" midseason premiere, Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) delivers a warning of sorts for the second half of "The Walking Dead Season 6." Showrunner Scott Gimple also gives the background on Carl Grimes (played by Chandler Riggs) injury and on "that Wolf guy."
Comic Book reports that without giving too much away Norman Reedus shared that scenes in this half of "The Walking Dead Season 6" upset the crew a lot. "I can't tell you, but the second half of the season is so hardcore," Reedus said. "It's sort of like the first half was the pulling back of an arrow with a bow, and the arrow has gained momentum.
Reedus continued to say that this next half of Season 6 is the release of that arrow that drains the emotions. More than a few of the scenes that had been shot left the crew in tears just because the scenes felt heavy emotionally.
Reedus will also be seen in "Triple 9" alongside "Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice" actress Gal Gadot, "I Am Number Four" actress Teresa Palmer and "Divergent: Allegiant" star Kate Winslet.
Meanwhile, writer-producer Scott Gimple told Entertainment Weekly that fans can expect to find similarities between "The Walking Dead Season 6" and the comic book but only up to a certain extent. Carl's eye injury by Ron Anderson (played by Austin Abrams of "Paper Towns" with Nat Wolff and Cara Delevigne) explored a dynamic between Carl and Ron from the comic book.
"I would love to say, "Oh, man, what a genius move by us!" but there's a scene in the comics where Ron comes at Carl," Gimple said. "Not really physically as much as just threatening him, but that dynamic was so cool in the book, and it was just one we wanted to explore and fulfill that much more."
Gimple said that Enid's triangle with Carl and Ron was part of this dynamic. In an M.C. Escher style of adaptation, the book was the inspiration for this even while the thread departed from, and then eventually returned to, the book.
Gimple also revealed that Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) approached him and creator Greg Nicotero about giving Rick Grimes a scar or two. While it added to the preparation and work for the character, Gimple admitted that Lincoln was right in that the characters will have to begin wearing these scars.
On the matter of the Wolf guy (played by Benedict Samuel) who kidnapped Dr. Denise Cloyd (played by Merritt Wever), Gimple shared that he has a clear backstory but not a clear name for the character. Gimple said that the Wolf leader was named Owen at one point. However, although Gimple has a firm backstory on the Wolf leader, which the show or Gimple and his team may be able to tell someday, the same could not be said about the Wolf leader's name.
