'The Revenant' News & Update: Leonardo DiCaprio Wins Big at BAFTA Awards, Kisses Maggie Smith!

The U.K. film industry has showered a lot of love on Leonardo Di Caprio's new film, "The Revenant" on Valentine's Day. The film garnered five huge awards from the British Academy Film Awards.

DiCaprio took home the award for best actor - making him an even bigger Oscar favorite now - while Alejandro G. Inarritu took home the award for best director, for what he dubbed as a "human and tender story." In addition, "The Revenant" also received awards for cinematography and sound, reports Page Six.

DiCaprio has previously been nominated thrice at the BAFTAs before, but never got to win an award. In his acceptance speech at the awards show on Sunday, Leo said that he was "absolutely humbled" to have beaten Matt Damon ("The Martian"), Bryan Cranston ("Trumbo"), Michael Fassbender ("Steve Jobs"), and Eddie Redmayne ("The Danish Girl").

But that probably wasn't the only highlight of Leo's night. The Stephen Fry-hosted ceremony wanted to pay tribute to Valentine's Day with a kiss cam. Vanity Fair reports:

"Stephen Fry was hosting the British answer to the Academy Awards for the eleventh time this year and, in an homage to the romantic February 14th date of the ceremony, called out certain names as a heart-shaped image of various BAFTA seatmates popped up on the screen."

Everyone joined in the fun, too. Bryan Cranston planted a huge kiss on Julianne Moore. Meanwhile, real-life couple Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender refused to participate.

So who was DiCaprio paired with? No other than Dame Maggie Smith! Not to worry though, it was all PG - like a boy kissing his grandma on the cheek. Watch how the Kiss Cam segment turned out for the BAFTAs by watching the video below!
