As the NBA Deadline approaches, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat are in the middle of a discussion that includes Dwight Howard and Hassan Whiteside. If the deal pursue, the two basketball stars would exchange teams and play for their new groups.
Frank Isola of New York Daily News shared the plan this coming Thursday. "Dwight Howard could be moved by Thursday's trade deadline. Miami is talking with Houston about a deal that would include Hassan Whiteside," he posted on his Twitter page on Feb. 15.
However, it looks like the professional players can't be fully traded because of the big difference of their salary. Whiteside is earning less than a million dollar this season while Howard has $22 million gross.
According to CBS Sports, the 30-year-old star of Rockets and the 26-year-old Miami player will be "unrestricted free agents this summer."However, Miami doesn't have the number 21 center player's "full Bird rights."
Also, Whiteside is younger than Howard and hasn't experienced the series of injuries he had been through. But, Howard is still in good shape and one of the known top center players, especially on defense while Whiteside continuously scores impressively that can lead to winning.
Meanwhile, the basketball team based in Houston, Texas had an unfortunate battle in joining the season's second half for being left out on the ninth spot with a 27-28 score in the Western Conference, NBA.com reported. In fact, they are handling "chemistry issues" and the addition of Howard can be a sign that they are ready to face "another direction."
The team based in Miami, Florida, on the other hand, has been known to have the NBA superstars every offseason and trade deadline. And for the first time, the group and Pat Riley are eyeing to get back on their feet at the postseason after LeBron James' left them. Miami has 29-24 record and on the fifth place in Eastern Conference.
