‘Stars Wars: Episode 8' Release Date, News & Update: 5 Facts About Newbie Kelly Marie Tran

Good news for the fans of the epic space opera franchise as the filming of "Star Wars: Episode VIII" has officially started in London on Monday. The news was confirmed by the title's own website and announced the newly added character, the newbie Kelly Marie Tran.

And as the name of the new star sounded pretty new to every ear, check out the five facts about her:

First, she was born in San Diego and graduated at UCLA and dreamt of being in the movie industry as an actress and a total performer, according to Entertainment Weekly. In fact, started joining local musical theaters and underwent training at three reputable improve groups, like iO West, Second City and Upright Citizens Brigade.

Second, Tran already appeared in a series of "College Humor Originals." One of her most distinct appearances was the latest "Periods Aren't That Gross," which was recently released this year and "Why Net Neutrality Matters" among others.

And for the fourth, Tran also starred several short series in 2011, like "Untouchable," "The Rising Cost of Cosmetics" and "Impressions." She was also seen in "Educational Guide to Women's Periods" and "Aimed at Men," Cinema Blend added.

Lastly, she appeared on the TV series, like "Ladies Like Us in 2013," Lifetime's "Fall Into Me," co-starred TruTV's "Adam Ruins Everything" and a supporting role in Netflix's "XoXo." Her different headshots on the website BreakDownExpress revealed her funny side, as proven by the impressive projects she did, which were most comical.

Meanwhile, "Star Wars: Episode VIII" new stars also includes Benicio del Toro and Laura Dern. The 8th movie installment is set to be released in the US, UK and Australia on Dec. 15, 2017.
