Many gamers are waiting for Sony's next generation PlayStation VR gaming platform. However, it seems that they will need to practice their patience. According to GameStop CEO Paul Raines the virtual reality headset from the tech giant Sony isn't launching for months.
Raines declared that Sony is planning to release the virtual reality headset later this fall. Sony did not comment Raines' declaration but rather told VideoGamer.com that the company does not have any info to share at this time. The Sony representative said that the PlayStation VR's launch date will be announced in due course.
According to PC Mag, Raines also explained that GameStop is currently in discussions with HTC and Oculus about being a dealer for selling their VR devices as well. As Raines put it, "virtual reality is on its way" and the company is preparing for launches of many major virtual reality products.
According to Raines, VR market is expected to be a multibillion-dollar market. The market size is difficult to measure in the present circumstances, since there are involved a lot of different measurements. However, a recent Goldman Sachs report found that the virtual reality market could reach by the year 2025 around $80 billion.
Raines also talked about the tax season's effect on GameStop's business. According to him, during this period of the year refund checks can drive new video games and new hardware sales.
The Sony PlayStation VR headset will be placed over a person's face like other VR products. Through its goggles, the gadget will provides a virtual gaming experience. Sony's PlayStation VR will still rely for gaming content on the PlayStation 4. For instance, gamers can look forward to PlayStation VR game titles like Ace Combat 7, 100ft Robot Golf, Eagle Flight, The Modern Zombie Taxi Co., Rez Infinite and Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin. Golem will be a game title exclusive on PlayStation VR.
