Pro-life supporters and groups gathered together outside the Midland Planned Parenthood Building to offer prayers of Thanksgiving and Forgiveness, according to My West Texas.
The rally took place two weeks after Planned Parenthood of West Texas made the decision to stop operations and move its services to the San Angelo health center.
A note was taped to its door this week announcing the said closure.
Bishop Michael Pfeifer of the San Angelo Catholic Diocese led the rally and the rosary brigade.
"With all of you, I thank God for the welcome news that Planned Parenthood of Midland is closing its doors and will no longer provide surgical or chemical abortions in the city of Midland," Bishop Pfeifer wrote in a letter handed out to Midland-Odessa parishioners.
Officials of Planned Parenthood previously cited attacks from Governor Rick Perry and state lawmakers for the closures.
"These difficult decisions to close some health centers in Texas will allow Planned Parenthood to continue providing services in as much of the state as possible under the current challenging environment," said Jeffrey Hons, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Trust of South Texas.
"I hope there will be a time in the future when we can restore Planned Parenthood's service to the women in Midland and Odessa" he said.
