"Penny Dreadful Season 3" promises to keep fans busy as the plot thickens, so to speak. The hit TV series, which stars "Casino Royale" Bond girl Eva Green as Vanessa Ives, "James Bond" Timothy Dalton as Sir Malcolm Murray and "Black Hawk Down" star Josh Hartnett as Ethan Chandler, will take the fight between good and evil a few levels up.
Independent reports that in the words of the very secretive "Dr. Who" star Billie Piper who plays consumption victim Lily-turned Bride of Frankenstein, "Penny Dreadful Season 3" is going to be on the tricky side. "It's such a minefield," Piper described "Penny Dreadful Season 3."
Piper gave candor when asked about whether or not her version of Bride of Frankenstein will give Victor Frankenstein's monster, played by "Black Mirror's" Rory Kinnear, the love he craved. "It's a perverse relationship I'd say, it moves around a bit," Piper expained. "There's a lot of feeling, but she also has a quest and she wants him on board. So she goes about that using her great tools of manipulation but whether it's formed through genuine love I suppose you'll have to wait and see."
Dread Central reports that Shazad Latif will bring Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr. Henry Jekyll to to life "Penny Dreadful Season 3." Latif's character is a far cry from his recent engagement as the comic Clem Fandango in Matt Berry's "Toast of London."
Latif's Dr. Jekyll is as highly-anticipated as Patti LuPone's return from playing the highly praised Cut-Wife in Season 2 to playing the strange American psychologist Dr. Seward in "Penny Dreadful Season 3." LuPone is best known for her work in "Driving Miss Daisy" with Morgan Freeman, Jessica Tandy and Dan Aykroyd.
Meanwhile, producer Christopher King announced on his Twitter account that the "Penny Dreadful" Season 3 scenes that were to go on location in Almeria, Spain have been successfully and neatly wrapped. A few episodes in "Penny Dreadful Season 3" will actually take the show out of the usual gloom and gray of London streets onto a few other interesting locations.
Entertainment Weekly also announced that Eva Green's Vanessa Ives will now be seen in a comic book series. John Logan's "Penny Dreadful" has been adapted for comics by Titan Comics. The "Penny Dreadful" comic series is set for a launch to match the May 1 premiere of "Penny Dreadful Season 3." Titan Comics also created the comic book series based on hit TV shows "Sherlock," "The Blacklist," and "Vikings."
Den of Geek reports that "Penny Dreadful Season 3" will air on Sunday, May 1 at 10 P.M. on Showtime (US) and Tuesday, May 3 at 9 P.M. on Sky Atlantic (UK).
