Vermont's Burlington International Airport Hosts First Airport Nursing Station

The Burlington International Airport hosted the first ever airport nursing station in the country, according to BND.

Mothers traveling to and from the airport are now afforded with the chance to breast feed their children in a secure, private and clean space.

Dubbed as the "Mamava", the new area was built by co-founders Sascha Mayer and Christine Dodson of Burlington, who have had difficulties trying to breast feed their babies while traveling for their jobs.

"We want everyone to feel comfortable. We're here, not hidden in some dark hallway," said Mayer.

The nursing station only occupies approximately 20 square feet. It has two facing benches with a fold-down table and a power outlet.

Cassie Lindsay who visited a rollout of the Mamava informed the Burlington Free Press that this new invention would make "traveling much easier".

"This is amazing, every airport should have one of these," she added.

The Director of Aviation at the Burlington Airport said "the airport welcomes women to breast feed in public, but the Mamava ensures that people who want privacy have that option".

Burlington's Mamava is sponsored by manufacturer Zutano, a clothing brand.

"A unit of the Mamava at the airport would sell at $3500," said Mayer.
