The highly-anticipated sequel "Fifty Shades Darker" has started film production as revealed by E.L. James, author of the "Fifty Shades" trilogy, on her Instagram account. Rebel Wilson is also rumoured to star in the third sequel "Fifty Shades Freed" as a dominatrix.
Around this time last year, Universal Pictures was celebrating its great success with "Fifty Shades of Grey." The movie reportedly earned $570 million worldwide when it opened on Valentine's Day weekend according to Movie Web.
Now, author E.L. James revealed on her Instagram page on Thursday that filming for the highly anticipated sequel "Fifty Shades Darker" has begun in un updated report from Movie Web. Although no details about the production were reported, the fans hope to see more from the set soon.
On the same report back in November, Movie Web reveals that both sequels, "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed," will be shot back to back. Universal Pictures has set "Fifty Shades Darker" to be released in theatres on Feb. 10, 2017, while "Fifty Shades Freed" will be shown on Feb. 9, 2018.
Although official plot details have not been released yet, the version in the book opens with Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) moving away from Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). It still not clear how closely the movie will follow the book, according to the lates report from Movie Web.
Both sequels will be directed by James Foley ("House of Cards") with E.L. James' husband Niall Leonard ("The Bill") writing the script. Max Martini (Taylor), Eloise Mumford (Kate), Luke Grimes (Elliot Grey), Rita Ora (Mia Grey) and Victor Rasuk (Jose Cunningham) will continue their roles from the first movie.
Meanwhile, new cast members for the sequel will include Kim Basinger as Elena Lincoln, Bella Heathcote as Leila Williams and Eric Johnson as Jack Hyde. Arielle Kebbel reportedly signed a contract to be Gia Matteo for the finale "Fifty Shades Freed" according to Movie Web. We Got This Covered adds that Rebel Wilson has also put herself forward for a role in the final sequel as encouraged by Johnson.
Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Wilson revealed that Johnson has put a word with Universal Pictures for a possible role as a dominatrix. Both ladies worked together in "How To Be Single" which recently opened in theatres.
