The casting of the much anticipated movie 'Fifty Shades of Grey' has left fans disappointed and infuriated with most people demanding a change in the lead actors Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson.
Author EL James revealed the names of the lead roles on Tuesday. This drew massive flak from the fans and readers so much so that they started a petition to protest against the casting.
The petition started on Change.org is signed by over 13,000 people asking to consider Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel for the coveted roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, respectively. "We can do anything guys, anything," the petition insists. Fans also created a Facebook page for the two actors demanding that they be taken for the lead roles.
One commenter wrote "Matt Bomer is perfect to play this role... He's the only Christian Grey. He is a great actor and he can fit the character perfectly... No Bomer No Movie."
However, according to the Los Angeles Times, the chances of change in the main characters seem to be quite dim. The movie will go into production this fall and will release on August 1, 2014.
Hunnam, 33, is popular for his roles in TV shows such as 'Queer as Folk' and 'Sons of Anarchy.' He also acted in the movies 'Cold Mountain,' 'Children of Men' and 'The Ledge' and the very recent blockbuster 'Pacific Rim.'
Twenty-three-year-old Dakota, daughter of Don and Melanie Griffith, appeared with Justin Timberlake in 'The Social Network.' She was also seen in the U.S. TV show 'Ben and Kate' and the comedy flicks '21 Jump Street' and 'The Five-Year Engagement.'
Now only time will tell whether the demands of the protesters are met and how successful the movie would be with Charlie as Christian and Dakota as Anastasia.
