'Deadpool 2' Release Date, News & Update: Wirters Talk About Cable and Budget for the Sequel

Century Fox has confirmed the sequel for the box office hit "Deadpool" even before its opening date last Friday. Writers of the film confirmed the coming of Cable in Deadpool 2 and warned fans that it won't be the same as other superhero movies.

A week ago, an insider from Hollywood reporter confirmed that Deadpool 2 has been approved by 20th Century Fox in a closed-door meeting, reports Cinema Blend. Both Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have been contracted by Fox to start writing for the sequel.

An interview with Collider reveals more of the sequel's details; from the characters to the budget. It is important to note that this interview took place before the film opened in theaters and exceeded expectations. Speculations that the movie will earn $70 million dollars on its first weekend were exceeded with the movie actually earning $316 million worldwide, reports Cinema Blend. However, this does not mean the writers are going to write a story that will require a big budget.

According to Wernick, the sequel won't have any scenes in outer space or anything remotely similar. Deadpool 2 will be a game-changer among the superhero movies. The writers tell Collider that they are going to work on a modest budget of $58 million. However, Cinema Blend believes that Fox may go for $80 to $120 million given its box office hit.

According to the Collider, what made Deadpool different from the other superhero films is the fact that it doesn't involve so much fighting in outer space. Rather, the team is thinking of putting other characters into Deadpool's reasonably small and gritty world.

And that would probably happen to Cable. The team said that Cable would end up in Deadpool's world to keep the story's momentum. The website also added that fan-casting for the character has already begun.

The writers admit that in sequels, there's a need for some new characters. As Cable is already confirmed, the interviewers were asked about other X-Men's characters. Collider reports that they are still browsing through Fox's "Master List" to check any possible characters they can incorporate in the sequel. But they admitted to having difficulty with Xmen's current timeline.
