Sexual Assault Investigation Results to Shooting, Man in Custody

An Irvine shooting took place earlier this week over a sexual assault investigation while officers were trying to serve the man in question, according to the Examiner.

The 35-year old man, Ronald Williams, is now in police custody after the shooting left him injured but in an unknown condition on Tuesday evening. ABC News confirmed that Williams was taken down by a detective. He was rushed to the hospital after the gunfire broke out in the residential neighborhood in Irvine, California.

As of late, some of the details and information about the shooting is still unknown. The suspect is still under hospital watch and the state of his condition has not yet been clarified by physicians. The Irvine police said the shootout took place after officers tried to serve the suspect a search warrant over sexual assault charges.

When Irvine officials contacted the suspect prior to the shooting, the suspect was reported to have been uncooperative. After such circumstances, the 35-year old man was then shot. Confirmation pertaining to what sparked the shooting has not yet been disclosed by authorities.

Williams was treated on the scene of the crime for the gunshot wound. No police officers were injured in the Irvine shooting. Williams still remains in police custody and will be charged after he is released from the hospital.

Police said one handgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting. A fake handgun was discovered in a car-door pocket, according to ESPN.

A woman was in the car with the suspect said she met him three days ago. She said he is a tattoo artist, and in exchange for a tattoo she would come to his residence at the complex to babysit his 3-month-old child and clean his apartment. She was not injured in the shooting.
