Television writer and producer Shonda Rhimes opened up on how she is able to handle being a mother to three daughters despite a very busy schedule. She claimed spending time with her kids enables her to enjoy special moments with them.
According to ABC News, the name responsible for hit TV series like "Scandal," "How to Get Away With Murder," and "Grey's Anatomy" revealed her secret in balancing work and her relationship with daughters Emerson, Harper, and Becket.
The executive director also noted that she is currently living her dream job, which she worked very hard for. Rhimes added that her youngest kid, Emerson, helped her achieve what she really wanted to pursue in life. Rhimes added that she realized one day that she needed to get back on life. She explained that the time she spent with her children turned things around for her.
"My kids only want to play with me for 15 minutes and then they're on to something else. It's just 15 minutes ... I can pull off 15 minutes of time on my worst day. Uninterrupted is the key," Rhimes mentioned in the ABC News report.
The TV genius also mentioned that her kids have always been her happy place. "They're my world. It's about joy, it's about playing in general," the producer added. "Work doesn't work without play," Rhimes noted.
In September last year, she also said in a SheKnows report that being a mom is not just a mere job. Rhimes explained that unlike usual jobs, a woman cannot quit from being a other.
"Calling it a job belittles it. It goes part and parcel with the whole idea of motherhood as sacrifice," she added. The 46-year-old producer also claimed that being a mother always comes with sacrifices like not being able to sleep at night. But she said that a role of a parent is something they are not obliged to do but rather they feel blessed of doing.
