Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has been considered an important part in the development of mental health treatment of children. She recently spoke about the issue and expressed willingness to support programs on these.
The Huffington Post said that they hope to inspire their kids to be supportive of other people's feelings especially when they are growing up. "We hope to encourage George and Charlotte to speak about their feelings, and to give them the tools and sensitivity to be supportive peers to their friends as they get older.
She claimed that it is important to properly recognize what young people are dealing in terms of their mental health. "We know there is no shame in a young child struggling with their emotions or suffering from a mental illness," Middleton added.
The Duchess of Cambridge, however, claimed that it is never easy for the families of these children to ask for help for their own kids. Along with this, she also called for a positive approach and a better solution on mental health in the United Kingdom.
In addition, Express claimed that anthropologist and physician Paul Farmer recognized Middleton's role, as well as her husband's Prince William, in their campaign for better approaches to mental health.
"They have a real interest and a commendable long term commitment to mental health," Farmer said. "Their involvement - and that of others - is all part of a transformation in mental health and this is very important. It raises awareness and encourages people to reach out and seek help when many would not have otherwise," he added.
It was also noted in the Express report that the royal parents have earned the trust and confidence of the people when they speak about certain issues. "When you see a public figure you trust and like being open about an issue then that increases confidence to find help," Farmer said.
