'Super Smash Bros. 4' News & Updates: Masahiro Sakurai Explains Why The DLC Has To End

Recently, "Super Smash Bros." for 3DS and Wii U released its final DLC. With this, the addition of new characters in the game series comes to an end. Many fans of the game would have liked that the DLC had continued for a while longer.

Director Masahiro Sakurai of the Smash Bros. explained in a recent interview with Nintendo Dream why they decided to stop releasing other DLCs in the future. According to him, it would lessen gamers' surprises and end up eating up the contents itself if they would keep adding more popular characters to Super Smash Bros. Any additional character would not be able to generate as much hype as now. For this reason, director Sakurai thinks that now is "the best time to draw the line."

The in-depth interview with "Super Smash Bros." series creator Masahiro Sakurai in the monthly Japanese magazine Nintendo Dream also mentions that the game designer considered Geno as a playable fighter. Geno is a character featured by the "Super Mario RPG."

According to Source Gaming, Sakurai revealed that he had plans to add Geno in the latest installments of "Super Smash Bros." because this is one of the more popular among older video game characters. For this reason, Sakurai considers that Geno would fit really well into "Super Smash Bros." game installment.

Geno, a character from "Super Mario RPG", is a powerful doll. He fights by using his arm guns to fire projectiles. According to Nintendo News, Geno appeared for the first time in 1996 SNES title "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars". Since then the character made many fans.

The wooden hero did not join the "Super Smash Bros." game. However, the designer and director of the series did add an optional downloadable Mii Fighter costume as part of the Wave 5 DLC content for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The DLC content also includes a Geno Hat and Outfit for Mii Gunners.
